What is a Pay Schedule?Every employer pays their employees according to a certain schedule. It can be once a week, once every two weeks, twice a month, or once a month. Keep in mind, there are legislative requirements for each province that you must adhere to, reach out to us for more information. We provide you with a preview of your pay schedule for next year. If you like it, simply click Save and Continue. If you would like to change it, e-mail us at support@deluxe.ca.
-
Is it hard to change a pay schedule?Depending on your situation, it could be quite simple or it could come with several important steps. If you would like to change the pay date (for example you want to pay your employees on Fridays instead of Thursdays) we can easily help you make this change. If you want to make large changes, such as going from a monthly cycle to a weekly cycle, you would need to issue Records of Employment for everyone on your payroll first. Records of Employment can only handle one type of pay cycle at a time.

Do I want Deluxe to remit to the CRA on my behalf? Most of our clients choose to let us handle their CRA remittances. With our automated remittance system, it is impossible to forget to remit or to remit the wrong amount. Plus, Deluxe Payroll interfaces directly with the CRA to find out your business' exact remittance frequency. If it ever changes, we are electronically notified by the CRA. If you decide to turn OFF the automatic remittances, this will mean that you will remit all CRA payments yourself at each necessary interval. Please contact us at 1 (866) 772-9932 or support@deluxe.ca if you want to choose to remit to the CRA yourself and need help learning how to view our reports for the information you need.

I want Deluxe to start remitting my WCB/WSIB/CNESST. What can I do?Deluxe can only remit WCB for certain provinces: British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. Why? These provinces offer fixed remittance rates to companies. Other provinces use what is called an estimated rate: an estimation of what your company would owe, instead of a direct calculation on your regular payroll. Our system is capable of calculating remittances directly on the payroll but is not able to handle estimated rates. If you are in BC, ON, QC, or NS and would like to start using our WCB remittance service, please email the latest copy of your WCB statement or a recent official WCB communication to accounting@deluxe.ca.

What is the Ontario EHT exemption? The standard exemption is $1,000,000. If you belong to a group of several companies or if you process payroll across multiple accounts, this exemption would need to be shared. Example: I have two Deluxe Payroll accounts and I use an exemption of $500,000 for both.
-
Does everyone get an Ontario EHT exemption? If your total gross payroll in Ontario is over $5 million, you do not get an exemption.
-
What do I do if I don't have an Ontario EHT exemption or wish to use Zero for this account?Click on the check box marked "Zero exemption in the New Year" to choose an exemption amount of Zero.
