There are three important things to know about statutory holidays as a Deluxe Payroll user:

  • Deluxe is closed on any holiday where the banks are also closed. On these days, no banking activity can take place, including things such as direct deposits. If one of these holidays falls within your funding time (from the day you close your payroll to the day your employees are due to be paid) you may need to close your payroll earlier. Consult your Pay Period Schedule (PPERLIST) to find out if you are affected.

  • Employees are entitled to a Statutory Holiday premium, to be calculated according to your provincial legislation.

  • Select this Statutory Holiday Resource Page to learn more about your province's specific policy. (Link opens to a new window)

  • In certain provinces and jurisdictions, hours worked on a Statutory Holiday are also entitled to an additional premium, such as being paid at 1.5x the hourly wage. Select the  Statutory Holiday Resource Page to research your province's specific policy. (opens in a new window)
